Our research team recorded nearly nine inches of rain in August, which is roughly seven percent below our 65-year average for August rainfall.
Last year, our summer wet season was very wet, but we dried down on the early side and refilled quickly—in mid-June.
In 2025, we had a dry spring and early summer. The swamp finally started to refill in mid-July.
The average annual peak water level is reached on September 18. The vegetation has responded to these drier conditions —alligator flag is especially taking advantage.
